Announcing improved kennelling facilities on its Harwich to Hook of Holland route, ferry operator Stenna Line Ferries which runs links between Ireland, Britain and Holland, tells us that last year it transported 2,700+ cats and dogs over the North Sea, with the majority of dogs being transported during the summer holidays.
The company describes the figure as: "displaying a trend for taking the pet on holiday."
The improved facilities for pets are part of an extensive refurbishment and lengthening of the company's superferries - Stena Britannica and Stena Hollandica.
Stenna's online booking site carries a useful webpage specifically for pet owners travelling to and from Holland, explaining the requirements of the Pet Travel Scheme, (PETS).
